I was very glad to act as a session emcee of this ceremony to introduce various performances by our graduates. Unlike my past experiences, this emcee job was definitely invaluable for me as I had to face an audience of over a thousand people at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Despite feeling a bit nervous, I managed to finish my job smoothly, winning wide recognition from the audience. I have become more confident and felt a great sense of satisfaction.

I also came to realise that my different cultural background does not keep other mentees from being friendly and kind to me, making me feel that I was actually one of them.

This was my first time to serve as a Cantonese emcee. The most memorable moment at the ceremony was when my ability to speak fluent Cantonese left all guests in astonishment. The way they looked at me was encouraging and heartwarming indeed.

As Cantonese is not my mother tongue, language barrier has made this emcee job a tougher challenge for me. At first I could not memorise the script at all, so I made a lot of efforts to work on romanisation and practised hard. I believe where there is a will, there is a way. Finally, I overcame the difficulties and became more confident. Having gone through this, I will seek more opportunities to contribute to the community by acting as a Cantonese emcee.
