Terms and Conditions

Please read the terms and conditions below carefully. Your participation in the “Thank You Mentor” #敢謝友師您 Video Contest (hereafter referred to as “the Contest”) constitutes your acceptance of the terms and conditions set out below. All times stated are Hong Kong Time (HKT: GMT+8).

1. Eligibility

• The Contest is only open to the participants of CDF projects (including the participants of completed projects). Those taking part in the Contest are hereafter referred to as “the entrants”.
• An entrant must have a personal account on Facebook in order to take part in the Contest.
• The Contest is divided into three stages:
  • Entries Submission
  • Selection
  • Announcement of results and arrangement for award presentation

Stage (1): Entries Submission

• The period starts at 12:00 noon (GMT+8) on 15 October 2018 and ends at 11:59 pm (GMT+8) on 30 November 2018.
• During the Entries Submission period, entrants are required to enter the Contest by following the steps below:                           
                  
  • Step 1: Entrants are required to produce a short video on the theme of “Thank You Mentor”.
  • Step 2: Entrants are required to submit the video together with a paragraph of textual description not exceeding 450 English characters or 150 Chinese characters (including spaces) (hereafter referred to as “ the entry”) and post the entry on CDF’s Facebook fan page by following the instructions set out below. Entrants should upload the video in the section “Thank You Mentor” #敢謝友師您 on the “Events” page of CDF’s Facebook fan page, and add the hashtags #敢謝友師您 and #兒童發展基金to the video (number of words of the hashtags will not be counted). After posting the video, share the video in the entrant’s Facebook personal account (bearing in mind that the privacy setting of the post must be “public”). The entry will be recognised as having successfully entered the Contest only when the above steps have been followed.
• By submitting the entry, the entrant automatically agrees to grant the Labour and Welfare Bureau (hereafter abbreviated as “LWB”) the licence to use the entry (please refer to Clauses 6 to 8 on details about the licence to use the entry). LWB will indicate the name of the entrant in the content when using the entry.
• Upon the ending of the period of Entries Submission at 11:59 pm (GMT+8) on 30 November 2018, the Selection Stage of the Contest will begin.

Stage (2): Selection

• During the Selection Stage, the judging panel formed by Members of the LWB Steering Committee on the CDF (with a weighting of 50%) and representative(s) from the Hong Kong Airlines (with a weighting of 50%) will select nine award winners.

Stage (3): Announcement of Results and Award Presentation

• Each entrant taking part in the Contest, together with a maximum of two family members and his/her mentor, will be invited to attend the CDF 10th Anniversary Award Presentation Ceremony (hereafter referred to as “the Ceremony”) to be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 9 March 2019.
• The list of the nine winners of the following awards will be announced and prizes will be presented at the Ceremony :

• In case a winner cannot personally (or assign a representative to) attend the Ceremony and receive the prize, the Organiser reserves the right to select another winner without notice.

*Prize redemption condition: All air tickets sponsored by the Hong Kong Airlines do not cover taxes, fuel surcharge, airport construction fee and other administrative fees. Winners should pay these fees themselves. The period for redemption of air tickets is from the date of prize presentation to 31 December 2019, but not applicable to the blackout periods as specified by the Hong Kong Airlines. The Hong Kong Airlines reserves the final right to amend the condition of air ticket redemption.

2. Selection of Winners

• The criteria for determining the winning videos will be the ability of the entrants. There is no random selection of winners.
• All entries will be assessed according to the judging criteria. The judging panel has the right to refuse disclosing to an entrant the details of assessment of his/her entry according to the judging criteria.
• LWB reserves the right to disqualify any entries unilaterally without notice if the entries are found to contain any plagiarism, or have contents that involve infringement of rights, obscenity, sedition, defamation and indecency or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate elements.

Selection of the Winning Videos

• Theme: Thank You Mentor
• Entrants are free to submit any number of entries but only one video with textual description can be submitted each time.
• The entry to be submitted is required to contain one video with textual description in compliance with the following requirements:

(i) Video	Duration: not more than one minute Format: MOV, MPEG4 or WMV file format Resolution: 720p or 1080p (Entrants with entries selected as shortlisted videos may be notified to submit a video of higher resolution (suggested resolution: 1080p). Entrants are required to submit videos in compliance with the requirement within seven days after the date of notification. If the entrants fail to submit the videos on time, LWB reserves the right to disqualify the entries.)
(ii) Textual description	A paragraph of textual description not exceeding 450 English characters or 150 Chinese characters (including spaces but excluding the hashtags)

(i) Expression of Theme: originality and relevance to the theme (Assessment will be mainly on the video while the textual description has a supplementary function to help explain or complete the concept of the video.)	30％
(ii) Creativity: the way of expression and the extent of creativity that the entrant has chosen to express gratitude to his/her mentor	30％
(iii) Inspiration to others: whether the sincerity, touching story and inspiration imbedded in the entry arouse the interest of viewers	30％
(iv) Technical Skills: such as the aesthetic aspect, shooting skills, camera shot and sound quality as well as visual effects, etc.	10％

• All entries must be the original work by entrants and must not infringe the rights of any other parties.

   
3. LWB has the right to disqualify any entrant who has violated the terms and conditions of the Contest, any copyright or the Laws of Hong Kong, and LWB's decision to cancel, terminate, amend or suspend the Contest shall be final.
   
4. Entrants have the right to request in writing to access, correct or delete their personal data held by LWB, its partner(s) or the prize sponsor. The collected personal data of the entrants of the Contest will be used by LWB only for handling matters relating to the Contest and communication with the winners. LWB will ask entrants to indicate their preference and only with the consent of the entrants will they receive information, updated news and personalised information from LWB.
    
5. The winners shall assume full responsibility for the contents provided by them. The winners shall indemnify LWB and the sponsor fully and effectively against all costs, claims and losses and so forth suffered or incurred by LWB and the sponsor as a result of or in connection with the contents provided by the winners.
   
6. LWB has the licence to use any entry (while the copyright is still owned by the author). LWB may use the entry for purposes in connection with the Contest, such as for exhibition, display and publication, etc.
   
7. While preserving his/her copyright over the content, the entrant shall also grant LWB and the sponsor an irrevocable, worldwide, transferrable, royalty-free, non-exclusive and sub-licensable licence to use, reproduce, edit, amend, publish, translate, adapt, provide, transmit and distribute the content, and/or incorporate it in other works in any form, media or technology now known or hereafter developed, and in such manners as deemed appropriate by LWB and the sponsor. At the same time, the entrant shall expressly disclaim any moral right over the content of his/her work.
   
8. The entrants shall grant LWB the right that LWB may, in response to notices of infringement of copyright, change, modify or delete any part of the entries at its own discretion without prior notice and any reason.
    
9. In case of any disputes, LWB's decision shall be final.
   
10. Upon submission of his/her entry, the entrant shall confirm that he/she owns the copyright or control of his/her entry, including but not limited to all the rights of the entrant to provide, publish, upload, input or submit his/her entry. At the same time, the entrant shall grant LWB the rights mentioned above so that the Bureau can post, jointly post and jointly upload the content of the entry.
   
11. Entries failing to meet the entry requirements or violating the conditions below will not be displayed on the official website or through other official channels:
    • Entries containing obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit or otherwise inappropriate content;
    • Content of the entry is incomplete, damaged, irregular, altered, counterfeit, produced in error or obtained through fraud or theft;
    • Content of the entry is misleading, deceiving, offensive or defamatory against any person or is obscene, indecent and vulgar towards any person or will give rise to any claim by any person;
    • The entry is under the complaint or claim for compensation by a third party and the entrant fails to provide LWB with satisfactory and strong evidence.
12. All entrants of the Contest shall accept and agree to be bound by the terms and conditions set out above. LWB has the right to amend the rules and contents of the Contest without prior notice. Related information will be announced on the official website and social media without prior notice.
   
13. LWB has the right to amend or cancel any terms and conditions set out above without prior notice. In case of any disputes, LWB's decision shall be final.
   
14. The Contest is in no way sponsored, supported or administered by Facebook and Instagram and is not associated with these social media.
   
15. The entrants only provide information to LWB, a third party specified by LWB and the prize sponsor (if any), and not to Facebook and Instagram.

17. These terms and conditions shall be governed in accordance with the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong courts shall have the exclusive jurisdiction to interpret and deal with all matters relating to these terms and conditions.
