Visits to Cathay Pacific City

Supporting Organisation:

 Cathay Pacific Airways

參觀國泰城 participants from Yan Chai Hospital Law Chan Chor Si College visited Cathay Pacific City, the headquarters of Cathay Pacific Airways located at the Hong Kong International Airport.

Flying high in the sky is the dream of many young people. Many believe that a career in aviation means opportunities to travel abroad, learn and try new things, and meet amazing people from different parts of the world. Their enthuasism is further fueled by a popular drama series about aircrews recently shown on local TV.

In November 2014, with the support of Cathay Pacific Airways, four visits to the Cathay Pacific City were arranged for about 100 participants of CDF's school-based pilots. During the visits, serving flight attendants showed the participants around various training facilities and logistics zones, gave presentations on the daily rountine and training of frontline and supporting staff. The experience provided useful reference for the particpants when they decide on their career pathway in the future.

What they say…

LAM Hiu-ha, Form 3
"As the saying goes, ‘read thousands of books and travel thousands of miles', exposure to new things is just as important as learning from textbooks. Through the visit, I learn more about the entry requirements for aircrews as well as the airline operations. I also have a better idea of the training received and services provided by flight attendants and ground staff through visiting the mock-up cabin. The visit not only broadened my knowledge but also gave me inspiration on an additional choice for my future career."

KO Man-yeung, Form 3
"My dream is to be a Cathay Pacific pilot. I would feel great even if I only become a maintenance technician who can touch the plane. That's why I am so excited by the visit. I hope that I could learn more about the requirements for being an aircrew. The visit has enriched my knowledge of aviation. Now I can tell that Cathay Pacific has recently changed its logo, and the minimum arm reach of 208cm is one of the standard requirements for its flight attendants. Though not directly related to my dream post, these pieces of information offer interesting insights into the career in aviation. I enjoy the visit very much."
