Supporting Organisation:
Benefited from the booming tourism, local and international boutique hotels are flourishing in Hong Kong, which offer plenty of job opportunities for young people. Some tertiary institutions provide manpower training programmes specifically for the hotel industry.
To help young people better understand the nature and operation of the industry so that they can make a more informed choice when they select their career pathway in the future, the Centum Charitas Foundation organised a visit for CDF participants to the M1 Hotel in Yau Ma Tei in November 2014. About 30 participants from the Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service, The Industrial Evangelistic Fellowship and Christian Action joined the visit, which included touring the housekeeping, sales, front desk, engineering and administration departments of the hotel, and briefings given by servicing staff on their routine duties and hotel operations.
The visit not only reminded the participants the importance of co-operation among different departments and the challenges in running a hotel, but also provided them with up-to-date and useful information about the entry requirements and career prospects in the hotel industry. Furthermore, the visit sent out a positive message that it is important to strive for excellence in order to achieve one's personal goal.
