Launched in December 2015, "Appreciate Hong Kong" is a five-month territory-wide public participation campaign which aims to showcase the strengths of Hong Kong by bringing together the efforts of the public, the Government, the business sector, academia and other sectors in the community. About 200 CDF project participants attended the open day rehearsal of the Hong Kong Police College in January 2016, and the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy's open day and rehearsal in April 2016. They were given the opportunity to visit the training bases of the two disciplined services to learn more about the various facilities for training new recruits and serving officers.

Both events presented a rich programme of activities including a hostage rescue demonstration performed by the Special Duties Unit (SDU) and evacuation of victims from a simulated fire scene. These activities offered a glimpse of the work undertaken by different units of the two disciplined services and the professionalism of their staff.
