The First CDF Board Game Competition Concluded Successfully

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the CDF, the CDF Secretariat has arranged a series of celebration activities spanning the whole year on the theme of "Celebrating 10 Years of Dreams for Future". The first CDF Board Game Competition held at the Central Government Offices was one of the highlights.

Apart from promoting communication and enabling youngsters to have a better understanding of their families and mentors through teaming up with them in the competition, the event also aimed to use a more interesting approach to help participants reflect on the importance of life planning and making savings through thinking about the way to win the game. It was our pleasure to have Dr Odalia WONG, Member of the Steering Committee on the Child Development Fund, as our Guest of Honour who presented prizes to the winners and cheered for the competitors at the scene.

The Competition attracted a total of 75 CDF participants, mentors and family members from nine NGOs and schools operating CDF projects. All the competitors were well prepared and before the Competition they had already completed training and passed the initial screening.

The Competition comprised two divisions, with competitors participating as an individual or in pairs. In the Individual Competition, the competitors were divided into groups and they were placed into the groups by drawing lots. The last six competitors who came first in their respective groups were qualified for the final during which they competed for the titles of the champion, the first runner-up and the second runner-up respectively. As for the Competition with competitors working in pairs, each competitor was required to pair up with a family member or a mentor. The pairs who came first in their respective groups became the winning teams.

After a series of exciting competitions, winners of the two divisions were selected. All competitors had given their best performance in the Competition and enjoyed themselves very much.

Winners of the Individual Competition:

• Champion: LI For-shing (Salesians of Don Bosco Ng Siu Mui Secondary School)－awarded a $3,000 gift voucher on electronic products and a certificate of commendation
  
• First Runner-up: LAU Wing-tat (The Industrial Evangelistic Fellowship)－awarded a $2,000 gift voucher on electronic products and a certificate of commendation
• Second Runner-up: HUI Kwan-kit (Christian Action)－awarded a $1,000 gift voucher on electronic products and a certificate of commendation

Winners of the Competition with competitors working in pairs (listed in no particular order): each winning team awarded a $1,000 gift voucher on electronic products and a certificate of commendation
