The Secretary for Labour and Welfare attended a High Table Dinner with students

Dr. Law Chi-kwong, the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, was invited to attend a High Table Dinner with over 100 CDF participants at the St. John's College of the University of Hong Kong.

During the dinner, Dr. Law encouraged the participants to better equip themselves and prepare for the future. He said, “We should keep acquiring new knowledge, enhance our personal qualities, boost our social capital and learn to communicate and cooperate with others. More knowledge, more experience and diversified development will be a great help to you in the future”.

By attending the High Table Dinner in formal attire, the participants could have a taste of the vibrant hall life at the university. In the afternoon, they were also arranged to visit the facilities of the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong, including the pharmacy and dissecting laboratory, Nursing Clinical Skills Laboratory and Simulation Training Centre and the simulated Chinese medicine pharmacy. The visit was a real eye-opener for the participants and deepened their understanding of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong.

The activity was co-organised by the Aspiration Foundation, the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong and the St. John's College of the University of Hong Kong.

# Titbits about High Table Dinner

High Table Dinner was evolved from the traditional formal hall dinner of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge in the United Kingdom. In addition to dressing in formal attire, it is also more demanding in terms of table manners. There are certain rules of etiquette regarding dining, proposing a toast, socialising and interacting with the fellow students sitting next to you.
