Project: CDF-Growing Partners2 (Kwun Tong) - The fourth batch of NGO-run project
CHAN Ping-tsang is a participant in the“CDF-Growing Partners2” project (Kwun Tong) operated by The Boys' & Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong. When Ping-tsang was 15, he suffered from psychosis and was hospitalised. His mentor, who is an oncologist with busy schedule, did spend quite a lot of time with him when he was hospitalised. Ping-tsang was deeply touched and felt being cared for.
Ping-tsang loves photography. After he had suffered from the illness, he came to know that taking photos could help him ventilate his feelings and at the same time offer him lots of opportunities to interact and communicate with others, thus enabling him to become a more active and outgoing person. He bought a camera with his Targeted Savings, hoping that he can continue to develop his interest.
Later, Ping-tsang’s photographic skill won people’s acclaim and he was invited to be the photographer of various events. This not only helped him earn income for supporting his family but also allayed his family’s worries about him. Ping-tsang hopes that by sharing his own story with other patients with mood disorders, he can encourage them to bravely face up to difficulties, work hard during the rehabilitation process and lead a more productive life.
