Elite Athletes

Over 300 CDF project participants visited the Hong Kong Sports Institute today to have an interactive sharing session with three elite athletes, namely Law Leong-tim, Mok Uen-ying and Ng Kiu-chung, and gain a glimpse of their daily training and everyday life. The participants also took part in various fitness tests to meet challenges for discovering their potentials. The Institute’s dietician also shared with the participants the tips on how to eat healthily and maintain a strong and healthy physique, and explained how a diet can help raise the level of performance in sports. Finally, they took a guided tour to visit the training facilities including the Sports Complex, Athletic Track and Field, Rowing Centre and Swimming Complex to understand the work of the Institute.

"My dream is to become a physical education (PE) teacher. My interest in sports was sparked by the PE teacher who taught me in Secondary 1 and invited me to join the track and field team. Although he has passed away, I hope very much that I can teach other students what I have learned from my teacher and live up to his expectations. Today's activity has enhanced my overall understanding of the training for athletes and in taking the fitness tests, I have experienced in person the huge difference between the training for professional athletes and the sports we play in our everyday life. This visit is very useful to people like me who aspire to become a PE teacher."
